The city of Kansas City, Mo. has published a 20-page sustainability plan showing progress on environmental issues since the 2008 Climate Protection Plan was adopted by the City Council.
The document reviews work on alternative fuel fleets, whole-building energy monitoring systems, LEED gold and silver standards for new construction and an ambitious overflow control plan that uses large-scale green solutions.
City officials plan to update the report on a monthly basis as new accomplishments are announced that support three key goals of the Climate Protection Plan:
- To improve the quality of our environment
- To advance social equity
- To promote economic vitality
